rice cereal

We started giving Bethany a little rice cereal a few weeks ago and she really seems to like it. Its at dinner so that she can see us eating too and learn that is what we do at the table. We give her a spoon so she gets used to it and its funny to see her expressions when the new texture hits her tongue. We'll probably hold off on introducing other solids for a little bit, but its fun experimenting with something new!

Bethany is almost 5 months old! We are working on figuring out the best bedtime for her, and so far it seems somewhere around 7:30 or 8 p.m. She wakes up around 2 or 3 a.m. for a little bit, but on the monitor we can see her eyes are closed and she eventually drifts back to sleep. She's doing pretty well so far so we'll keep working on sleeping well at night!

Here are a few pictures from the last couple of weeks:

Another new pass time is playing in my exersaucer from the Espensons. Bethany has also found her tongue and spends a lot of time sticking it way out, or blowing bubbles with her tongue out spraying everywhere!

Drooling, chubby legs baby

I can even get rice cereal on my eye lashes!

I like being messy!

Some people have bald spots on top of their heads, but Bethany likes hers right in the back.. so she can still have her little mullet :)

"reading" her book from great-aunt Marsha and great-uncle Bob

We celebrated Dan's great-grandma's 95th birthday a few weekends ago. Edna is an amazing lady - outliving three husbands and still going strong! It was fun to see Dan's extended family and for Bethany to meet her great-grandma for the first time. Here Edna is telling stories to her great-grandchildren.

Fun pictures from Bethany's 4.5 month photo shoot

I wanted some pictures of Bethany with her fun hats since she still doesn't mind wearing them. We put her in a few Easter outfits and she even gave us a few smiles :)

Pouty face

I have been trying and trying to capture Bethany's pouty face on our camera since she was born, but by the time I grab it she is full out wailing but this time I got it. Sorry hunny... I know you were sad, but I think the pouty face is so cute!!

One of my new favorite things is to "growl" - maybe its because I like my giraffe so much.... I am a tiger eating the giraffe!

I like to grab my clothes and blow bubbles :)
I like tummy time on my boppy!

What's wrong Charlie? Is it hard to get the burp out?

4 month stats

Height: 23 3/4 inches (25-50%)
Weight: 13 lb 14 oz (50-75%)
Head: 40 cm (25-50%)

We went to a new clinic today near our house and really enjoyed the experience. Everyone was very informative and we spent nearly 30 min with the Dr. asking questions and talking about Bethany's history. She's doing really well and is in the normal ranges for her age in all measurements. She was very smiley to everyone and enjoyed meeting new people. I love that this clinic is less than .5 miles from our house!

Bethany, we are really enjoying this stage with you. You are such a joy and make us smile with all your babbling, smiling and cooing. You are growing up and learning new things every day. We are so thankful that you have been remaining relatively healthy. Thank you for making our lives so much more fun - your dad and I love you!
