Father's Day

Hard to get us all looking for family pics, oh well!
Auntie Amber and Bethany

Just me and my dad

Today we had Charlie's dedication at Amber and Brents church and Charlie had a little accident while on stage.... Amber quickly got a blanket to wrap around him but it will be a very memorable dedication! Afterwards we hung out with yummy food and celebrated all of the fathers. Then Dan's parents came over for dinner and we grilled bacon wrapped steak, potatoes, garlic bread and salad. Lots of good food today!
I made Dan a card from Bethany with some recent pictures of her. She loves her daddy so much and I think its cute how excited she gets when she sees him. You are such a great dad to her and I love watching you as you care for her and teach her new things. Thanks for being such a great role model for her - I love you!

Bethany and Daddy
Eric and Megan with their daughter Annika came out to the cabin this weekend and it was so fun for the girls to play together. They did really well and it was funny to watch them grab the same toy back and forth from each other - neither got upset but they just kept taking it away from each other over and over! Jon and Jenna came with their ducks and we heard another boater say "that ain't no wild duck" about Little Jerry following Jon and Dan as they kayaked around the lake. Squirt is just a few weeks old and was funny to watch running around with its little wings flapping and mouth wide open. Fun weekend!

New pics

Her new trick - breathing out of a little corner of her mouth (she looks kind of like popeye when she does it!)

All bundled up in the tent

Camping last weekend was a bit cool and quite a bit rainy so although we had good intentions of staying overnight we ended up coming out for the day on Saturday with our friends from church. Bethany didn't quite know about sleeping in a tent for her naps but had a few short ones. Maybe next year!

7 months old!

Bethany is 7 months old! Well, she is almost 7.5 months, but I'm a little delayed in posting. These days she is very entertained by peak-a-boo. I hide behind Dan and pop up on one side and then drop back and reappear on the other. She knows this game very well so anticipates me on the other side but still giggles hysterically when I jump out and say peak-a-boo!

She is eating 3 meals of baby food a day and does very well. She opens her mouth so nicely after each bite most of the time. Bethany also likes water from her sippy cup and has decided she likes to chew on Cheerios. There is no Dr. appointment this month so I'm not sure where she is on the height and weight chart but it seems like she might be getting taller! We just packed up her 3-6 month clothing and so she's in her 6-9 month ones now even though quite a few are too long or wide on her. The one-piece pjs fit perfectly though.

Bethany loves the water and has enjoyed her swims in the lake so far! Bathtime is still the most fun because it is warm and there are so many toys to play with. She is also getting good and reaching for her toys while sitting. Sometimes she ends up on all fours but gets stuck there and hasn't figured out how to move forward on her own yet consistently. Books are a favorite too and we read several each day with Bethany helping flip the pages. She is sleeping very well - 7:30 to 6 most nights, although she has been flipping over lately and since she doesn't like tummy time wakes herself up and its sometimes hard for her to get herself back to sleep. Hopefully its just a phase and either she won't keep flipping over, or will figure out how to get back on her back, or just enjoy sleeping on her tummy when she does flip... this too shall pass.

Bethany - you are such a fun little girl! We love your smiles and that you enjoy meeting new people! We are so excited that you are learning new things and although we know crawling/walking will happen sometime, it is fun to have you in this non-mobile stage right now to enjoy. We love you so much!

7 month picture with monkey - I can reach both sides!

Still more interested in talking than smiling for the picture!

Memorial Day weekend

We are behind in our blogging! Memorial Day weekend was beautiful at the cabin. We spent a day driving to Kerkhoven to visit my grandparents, Bethany's great-grandparents. She enjoyed their pond and dipping her feet in it to cool off from the hot day. It was so nice to see them and enjoy a yummy meal together that Grandma made.

Then we spent a few days with my sister and her family and then my parents joined us a day too. Lots of fun in the sun and water with the babies and a boat ride which put both of them to sleep :)

Here are a few pictures from the past few weeks.

Bethany enjoying her mobile. There is a similar picture of me at this age doing the same thing.
